Judith Erwin, Award-winning Author

Judith Erwin is an award-winning author of nine novels with the tenth and eleventh in progress. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she has spent the majority of her life in Florida, where she currently lives.

A retired attorney and former freelance writer/photographer who specialized in theater and dance, Judith draws on her multi-faceted experience in the legal system and the arts community to craft the plots and characters populating her work. During her twenty-two years in law, she came into contact with a diverse population including convicted killers, drug dealers, addicts, domestic violence abusers, victims of physical and sexual abuse, and those with mental health issues such as schizophrenia, multiple-personality syndrome, and bi-polar disorder—plus experts in psychology and addiction.

During her career in freelance journalism, she interviewed celebrities including Emmy Award Winning Michael Emerson and legendary actor James Best. Her published photographs include those of Red Skelton, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Gregory Hines.

Proof that it’s never too late to change careers or achieve a dream, Judith obtained a law degree from the University of Florida at the age of 55 and released her first novel, Shadow of Silence, on her 75th birthday.

The mother of one son, a successful businessman, and one daughter, the artistic director of a Florida ballet company, she has six adult grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Judith loves the Episcopal faith, dance, books, theater, film, music, art photography, porcelain figurines, and animals—especially cats.

Judith has been interviewed by Bookish Indulgences and the North Florida Writers Tour. She is a member of Sisters in Crime, the Florida Writer’s Association, the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, and AllAuthor.com.

The Ballet is a beautiful and heartbreaking novel that had me on the verge of tears at times. It gripped me from the very beginning. I loved the complex relationship between these two main characters. The development of their relationship was intense and very well-rounded. Nothing was rushed and the characters were given time to grow and blossom right in front of the reader. The narrative was good; it gave a new insight into the story and the lives of the main characters.. I loved it all!

A beautiful blend of romance spiced with the allure of dance, The Ballet is tantalizing, engrossing, and delightful, a novel that has what it takes to stir the emotions of the most indifferent reader. The characters are awesome, fleshed out, and exciting. Judith Erwin is a master in crafting gripping plots, creating a story that is fast paced and emotionally engaging.

The author does a great job of setting the reader up for suspense. Not only will the sexual tension between Gabi and Derek keep you furiously flipping through pages, you'll also be left wondering....what is Gabi's dark secret? The backdrop of the austere world of ballet makes an excellent metaphor, all around a great read.

Judith Erwin has become my absolute favorite author with her amazing ability to pull you into her books with a grip so strong you just can’t wait to turn the next page. Shadows from the Past is a must read! I promise you won’t be disappointed. The combination of romance and mystery are perfectly blended. I love the characters she creates in her books and how quickly you form a bond with them and feel the chemistry between them. I love the level of detail that Judith writes about each of her characters where you actually feel like you know them and more importantly how quickly you like them. It truly is a must read.
